History of DMC / Royal Wedding Weekend!

Hello DMC followers of the world! 


Tonights blog post takes a 'history' theme. Its another bank holiday here in the UK. Friday 29th April is an official holiday in the UK for The Royal Wedding. Its Royal Wedding crazy here. I am personally very excited! Anyway.. enough small talk! 


As promised when we re-launched the DMC World Championships website last week, I said we will be release a series of 3 videos. The History of the DMC competition. This weeks release is 'The History of the DMC World Team Championship'. 


I love the World Team Championships. We have seen the most amazing performances from the worlds most creative and musical djs/turntablists. 


The DMC World Team Championships started in 1999. World Team Champions  - Scratch Perverts (99) / Craze & A-Trak (2000) / Perverted Allies (2001) / Birdy Nam Nam (2002) / C2C (2003/2004/2005/2006) / Kireek (2007/2008/2009/2010). C2C and Kireek are level with 4 x World titles in a row... Who will be the 2011 DMC World Team Champions? Will Kireek defend? Will C2C come back? Will there be a NEW Team to take the title? We will have to wait and see! Roll on October 6th and 7th!

The DMC UK DJ Championships application form now available to download!

DMC DJ Battle season is here! The DMC World DJ Championships is the longest running DJ competition in the world, and the most sought after title of the DJ world. The search for the UK’s best DJ begins in May 2011! Rane and Serato present the DMC UK DJ Championships 2011. The UK tour will showcase the DMC World Champion – DJ Ligone from France, he will be showcasing and judging at all regional's. DMC’s host INJA will also be performing debut cuts from his long awaited solo album ‘Inja:Maker’. DMC World Champion 89 – Cutmaster Swift will also be spinning. The DMC UK regional's hit Leicester, Blackpool, London, Bournemouth and Plymouth.  

The DMC UK Final is Thursday 14th July @ London’s Scala. The winner from the UK Final will go through to the DMC World Final which will be held on 6th and 7th October @ Indig02, 02 Arena.

Easter weekend.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Easter Weekend. Great for us in the UK, we had Friday off and also tomorrow! (Monday).  I moved house last week so its been pretty hectic for me.. Back in the office on Tuesday!

Monday Update!

Good afternoon DMC Fans world wide! I hope you had a great weekend. Its a short week in the UK this week as we have a bank holiday on Friday for Easter.... So.. I thought I would post a little update to let you know what is happening this week.

The DMC UK heats flyers are now in the building and they look fantastic! Let me know if get one in the 5 towns across the UK!

The first ever DJ to perform at THE PROMS!

Sooooo pleased to announce our very own 3 x DMC WORLD CHAMPION - DJ SWITCH from the UK, will be the first EVER DJ to perform at the Proms. The Proms is an annual TV season of the world greatest orchestras / composers and orchestral conductors. This is HUGE. 

The proms will be held at The Royal Albert Hall, the original home for the DMC World Championships! The last time DMC was at The Royal Albert Hall was when we had James Brown on stage!

Busy week here at DMC HQ.  Tomorrow I will be posting all the information on the UK Regional heats, UK Final and World Final dates.  We are busy working on a NEW World Championships website, it's going to be brilliant! If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see on the new site I look forward to your comments!

The DMC Online DJ Championships is here!!!!

As you may or may not know, DMC launched the DMC Online DJ Championship on March 3rd 2011. We are so excited by this new event. Its open to any and all DJs in the world. All you have to do is upload a 2min set! For the first time in DMC history, we are allowing the public to vote! Its really easy! There are 11 rounds, one every two weeks. After the two weeks, the publics 'Top 10' then get sent to DMC World Champions and they decide on a winner and runner up, which go through to the August final. The winner gets an all expenses paid trip to London for the World Final, $3000, lots of prizes from our sponsors and a chance to compete and or showcase at the World Final! (6th and 7th October @ Indig02, 02 Arena).

DMC Online DJ Championship launch party @ Jazz Cafe!

Thanks to everyone who made it down to the Jazz Cafe on Monday 4th April for the DMC Online Champs launch night. It was an amazing night. Shouts and thanks  to  Q-Bert, Shiftee, Mike L, Daredevil, Mr Thing, Matman, Harry Love, Big Ted, Chris P Cuts, Rewd Adams, Corin, Lucy Pink, Blakey, The Scratch Boys,  The Davro, Billy Biznizz, Swifty, Sinical, Marvill, Big Deal, Pride, Vivid Beats, Myles, Paul H, Theo, all the DMC CREW and everyone else in the building!

Performing on the night was DMC World Champions – DJ Q-Bert and DJ Shiftee, other performances included DMC UK DJs Matman, Mike L and Daredevil.

DMC Live @ St Pancras International, London!

On Friday 25th March DMC were invited to support the great 'Yes To Life' charity.  They told us we could take over the concourse of St.Pancras International -  London’s newest and most beautiful railway station, we knew there was only one DJ who could stop travellers in their tracks!

DJ WOODY with his amazing 'TURNTABLES IN TECHNICOLOR' had blown everyone away at the 2010 DMC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS so we knew a few people were about to miss their trains!

It was a most unique experience for us all, to see Woody performing to an audience who’s only reason to be there was to get away from there but hundreds of travellers stood with their suitcases and enjoyed watching this DJ OF A NEW BREED....the type of DJ who wants to take us to places we haven’t been before!

Thanks to everyone who came down to show support to DMC, DJ Woody and Yes To Life!
